With firmware 2.0, Yamaha is expanding the DM3 series' functionality and flexibility for various professional applications. An insert function has been added to the input and output channels, allowing users to insert VST plug-ins via USB (using the included VST Rack Elements software). An additional USB driver mode option has also been introduced. In addition to the existing Mode 1, which allows 18 channels to be connected to a single application, Mode 2 allows connection to up to four applications connected to a PC or Mac via USB. Other new features in the V2.0 firmware update include screen and fader position calibration, which improve the consistency of the user experience and allow the screen's color balance to be adjusted to suit the operating environment.
